As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), I provide an in-home assessment focused on how your space supports everyday living, comfort, accessibility and independence. Together, we look beyond individual home modifications to consider how the entire home functions for the person living there.

Aging In Place Set-Up helps create a safer, calmer and easier-to-navigate home for individuals living with memory loss. Using dementia-conscious organization and aging-in-place principles, we assess the home for safety, accessibility, lighting, fall risks and everyday functionality, then implement practical changes that support familiar routines, independence and comfort.

Your home should continue to work for you as your needs change.

Our Aging In Place service helps families create a more supportive home environment while preserving as much independence, familiarity, and dignity as possible.

We walk through the home with a fresh set of eyes and help identify practical changes that can support daily living, including:

  • Home Safety & Aging-in-Place Assessment — review entrances, pathways, flooring, lighting, bathrooms, kitchen, furniture placement, fall risks, accessibility, and how well the home supports changing needs.

  • Dementia-Friendly Home Set-Up — simplify rooms, reduce visual clutter and confusion, improve contrast and visibility, create clear pathways, and make frequently used items easier to find.

  • Routine & Organization Systems — labels, simplified storage, dedicated daily-use zones, clothing systems, pantry organization, medication-area organization, and other cues that support everyday routines.

  • Room-by-Room Safety Improvements — practical changes in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, entryway, laundry area, and outdoor access.

  • Product & Modification Recommendations — recommend items such as improved lighting, lever handles, bathroom safety products, seating solutions, signage, storage, or other aging-in-place products.

  • Vendor Coordination — when work is outside your scope, coordinate handymen, contractors, electricians, plumbers, movers, cleaners, or other specialists.

  • Move-In Dementia Set-Up — for someone downsizing or moving into senior living, recreate familiar routines and placement of belongings so the new environment feels recognizable and easier to navigate.

  • Family Walk-Through — once the set-up is complete, show the family what was changed, why it was changed, and how to maintain the systems.

Every home—and every family—is different. The goal isn't to completely change your loved one's home. It's to thoughtfully adapt the environment around them so it is easier to navigate and manage as their needs change.
